Rachel Beer is a visual artist based in the Midwest. She received her BFA in drawing and printmaking from the University of Oklahoma in May of 2019. She graduated with her MFA in printmaking from Northern Illinois University in May of 2023. She is now working as the 2023/2024 Printmaking Artist in Residence at the Lawrence Arts Center in Kansas while teaching at the Kansas City Art Institute.
Influenced by experiences navigating invisible illness, Rachel's work emerges from the ecotone that exists between her own sick body and the landscapes she inhabits. By combining the subtle language of drawing with the spontaneous nature of printmaking, she cultivates an attentive gaze towards the often overlooked "weedy" spaces that exist within and around her.
